7.1.3 External Assessment by other than NZQA Examinations

  1. The following externally assessed standards will not be assessed through NZQA-based examinations:
    • Technology (including Levels 1-3 and New Zealand Scholarship Design and Visual Communication)
    • Digital Technologies
    • Levels 1-3 and New Zealand Scholarship Visual Arts
    • Level 3 Education for Sustainability
    • New Zealand Scholarship Health and Physical Education
    • New Zealand Scholarship Music
    • New Zealand Scholarship Dance.
  2. The Assessment Specifications published by NZQA before the end of 2021 provide information about the processes for 2022 relating external assessment, including for the above standards.
  3. The details of the assessment processes, including the submission of Candidate work, deadlines and timetables, will be published by NZQA during the current school year.
  4. All Candidate work submitted for external assessment must be authenticated as the Candidate's own work by Schools in accordance with their policy and procedures for authenticity.
  5. Work sent to NZQA that is not confirmed as authentic or reported as not being authentic will be dealt with under a Breach of the Rules - External Assessment.
  6. Schools must manage any derived grade applications following the Derived Grade Process and applying the instructions supplied by NZQA to the School.
  7. Schools must submit samples of Candidate work for verification of assessor judgements consistent with their Consent to Assess.
