8 December 2017
Assessment specifications provide the assessment parameters for each externally assessed standard.
They are updated annually. They are now available. See below.
They should be read alongside the applicable Achievement Standards.
For examinations, they cover information such as the:
- format of the paper
- equipment candidates can bring and use
- context for questions, where appropriate.
For portfolio subjects, they cover the:
- format of the assessment
- portfolio submission date
- portfolio specifications, including the type and volume of materials that may be submitted as evidence
- requirements for authenticity.
2018 Assessment Specifications
These are now available. For NCEA, see the NCEA subject resources pages and for New Zealand Scholarship, see the Scholarship subject pages.
Assessment specifications for previous years will not be available on the NZQA website to avoid any confusion, but they will be available on request to NZQA.
Revision of Achievement Standards
In 2017 the Ministry of Education revised some of the Levels 1 to 3 Achievement Standards.
The Achievement Standards that are affected will be published on the NZQA website on 12 December 2017.
