Clearing calculator memory
Before the start of the assessment school teaching staff must set the memory of any calculators brought into external assessments to default settings. A candidate who refuses to allow their calculator memory to be reset will not be allowed to use the calculator during the assessment.
Practising clearing calculator memory
It is recommended that teaching staff practise the clearing of calculator memories with their classes during the year. This will provide the teachers with continuing experience in clearing calculator memories and the students will become competent and confident in how to set their calculators into working mode.
The clearing of calculator memories also applies to all practice assessments relating to external assessment standards.
How many calculators are allowed in an external assessment?
Candidates are allowed to have two calculators on their desk during any assessment, but each calculator must have had its memory reset to default settings before the start of the assessment.
