Changes to NCEA History Examinations 2021
The following changes have been made to the assessment specifications for Level 1, 2 and 3 History. These are in response to feedback from examiners, markers, and teachers that the three examinations in their current form are unable to be completed within the set three-hour period.
- After discussion with assessment experts and examiners for standards 91005, 91233, 91234, 91438 and 91439, candidates will be required to respond to a question that may not cover every aspect of the standard. This will encourage candidates to provide in-depth and comprehensive responses that are concise and relevant to the question and provide sufficient evidence for a valid judgement to be made against the standard.
- Candidates will NO LONGER be required to respond to a quote or statement in the question for 91438.
- The assessment specifications for 91003, 91231 and 91436 now include a broad context for all papers that require candidates to respond to source material.
The assessment specifications for Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 have been updated to reflect these changes and include the broad context.
