Introduction of Grade Score Marking for externally assessed NCEA Technology standards in 2018

In 2018 all externally assessed NCEA Technology achievement standards will be marked using Grade Score Marking. This will have no impact on teaching and learning programmes or on candidate preparation for assessment.

Grade Score Marking will bring additional refinement to marking. Recognition of the quality of evidence within each grade is made possible by assigning a number to show upper and lower levels of grades

This method of scoring has been extensively trialled and allows for fair and effective marking. From 2018, assessment schedules will clearly identify grade boundaries.
