NCEA Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko Common Assessment Task (DCAT) in 2022 - A2022/12

This circular provides information relating to the assessment of externally assessed Digital Technologies achievement standards

To:

  • Principal's Nominee
  • Head of Technology
  • All Technology Teachers
  • Data Manager

What schools need to do

  • nominate the day you will hold the DCAT using the Common Assessment Tasks (CATs) Date Nominations section through the Key Indicators in your NZQA Schools’ Provider Login (secure website).
  • complete the nomination before 5 August 2022.
  • submit a datafile with your DCAT entries by 5 August 2022.

Accessing assessment materials

Your school will have access to the assessment materials three days before the assessment date you nominate.

Once your school confirms your nominated assessment date, NZQA will send further instructions on how to download, test and copy files.

The Principal’s Nominee is responsible for:

  1. downloading the DCAT file(s) provided by NZQA via a secure link
  2. testing the files prior to each session, and
  3. distributing the files as required.

If issues occur during the downloading or testing stage, you must contact desadmin@nzqa.govt.nz.

Digital Submission Upload

Schools will upload candidate files to NZQA by dragging and dropping these into the standards page in the school’s Provider Login. The upload will require each candidate’s file to be identified with either their name or NSN (National Student Number). You will receive immediate feedback on what you have submitted. The system will retain a record of candidate files and you will be able to access this record through the Provider Login.

Reminder for schools

If you do not inform NZQA of your nominated DCAT assessment date(s), or you change the date(s) after 5 August 2022, the assessment files may not be available to you. Send requests for changes to the assessment date after 5 August 2022 to desadmin@nzqa.govt.nz.

Administrative Guidelines for School

Schools must be familiar with the requirements in these guidelines to ensure the integrity of the assessment. These will be available in the Resources for externally assessed standards section of the NZQA Digital Technologies subject resources page in Term 3.
