NCEA Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko Common Assessment Task (DT&HM CAT) in 2020
A2020/12 - 23 Jun 2020
To: |
Principal's Nominee |
NCEA Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko Common Assessment Task (DT&HM CAT) in 2020
This circular provides information that relates to the assessment of externally assessed digital technologies achievement standards:
- the change in the process for nominating the date(s) schools will assess the DT&HM CAT assessments
- the DT&HM CAT digital submission upload
- the DT&HM CAT Administrative Guidelines for Schools.
Schools need to:
- nominate the date you will hold the DT&HM CAT assessment using the new Common Assessment Tasks (CATs) Date Nominations section through the Key Indicators in the NZQA Schools’ Provider Login (secure website). This process is new for 2020.
- complete the date nomination before Saturday 1 August 2020.
- submit any entries not included in the 1 August datafile by 9 September 2020.
Accessing assessment materials
Your school will have access to the assessment materials seven days before the assessment date you nominate.
Once your school confirms your nominated assessment date, NZQA will send instructions on how to download, test and copy files.
The Principal’s Nominee is responsible for:
- downloading the DT&HM CAT file(s) provided by NZQA
- testing the files prior to each session, and
- distributing the files as required.
If issues occur during the downloading or testing stage, please contact desadmin@nzqa.govt.nz.
Digital external submission upload
NZQA has developed a simplified online submission process for 2020.
This process allows schools to upload files to NZQA by dragging and dropping them to the standards page in the school’s Provider Login. The upload will require identification of the candidate’s file by either the candidate name or NSN (National Student Number). You will receive immediate feedback on what you have submitted. The system will retain a record of your submission and you will be able to access this record through the school’s Provider Login.
Schools are reminded that:
- If your school does not inform NZQA of your nominated DT&HM CAT assessment date(s), or you change the date(s) after 1 August 2020, the assessment files may not be available to you. Send requests for changes to the assessment date after
1 August 2020 to desadmin@nzqa.govt.nz.
Administrative Guidelines for Schools
Schools must be familiar with the requirements in these guidelines to ensure the integrity of the assessment. These are available from 24 July 2020 in the Resources for Externally Assessed Standards section on the NZQA Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko subject resources page.
