How schools can access assessment materials from NZQA
All assessment materials must be downloaded and printed by schools prior to the assessment days.
Electronic files will be available for downloading via schools’ secure logins on Friday 14 September 2018. The password to allow access to these files will be sent to Principal’s Nominees by 9.00 am that day.
Prior to the day of assessment, schools must check to ensure they are able to play the sound files for the listening tasks on their sound system.
Assessment Conditions
Schools must ensure assessments take place at the prescribed times, and under examination conditions. Refer to Appendix 1, Assessment and Verification Process for Schools on the NCEA subject resource pages.
There are two assessments at each level. It is preferable to start with the reading task to avoid latecomers missing out on hearing the listening texts.
Schools are reminded that:
- if they do not enter candidates for the external standards, they will not be sent the password to access the assessment materials;
- if the candidates are not enrolled in an ‘assessing school’ (i.e. the school with a subject specialist teacher in the language being assessed which takes responsibility for marking, moderating and participating in the verification process), a Memorandum of Understanding must be in place between the school of enrolment and the assessing school (Resources from 2017 Seminars);
- entries must be made using the school provider code of the ‘assessing school’;
- they need to print assessment and resource booklets for all candidates;
- they must not use any assessment booklets as revision materials or practice assessments;
- they must hold the VLCAT assessments on the days specified above; and
- if they do not meet these requirements, candidate results will be invalidated.
Key dates coming up:
