NCEA and NZ Scholarship Examiners
Type: Part-time contract | Location: New Zealand
NZQA is inviting applications from individuals for NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship examiners for the 2023 examinations.
NCEA and Scholarship Examiners are required for the following subjects:
- Chinese
- Commerce (RAS)
- Mathematics and Statistics
Examiners will work in their own time with the materials developers to produce examination materials for the externally assessed NCEA standards at levels 1, 2, 3, and NZ Scholarship.
Working relationships
Examiners are required to:
- liaise with the allocated National Assessment Facilitator
- work with the materials developer to produce assessment materials, for externally assessed achievement standards within the required timeframes
- attend a planning and development meeting between July - September to draft assessment materials
- attend a meeting early in 2023 at which a review of the 2022 external assessments will occur and inform the development of the 2023 external assessment.
Examiners will maintain the highest levels of security and confidentiality when:
- liaising with allocated Secondary Examinations Team members and other examination contractors
- working with all examination materials.
Professional and personal qualities
Examiners will demonstrate:
- extensive subject knowledge and familiarity with the New Zealand Curriculum
- an understanding of the principles of standards based assessment
- experience in developing high quality assessment material for a standards based environment
- knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of the partners of the Treaty of Waitangi in an educational assessment setting
- the ability to establish constructive working relationships with other professionals
- clear and effective communication
- the ability to work to stringent deadlines
- the ability to implement and maintain appropriate administrative and communication systems.
