NCEA and NZ Scholarship Panel Leaders

Type: Part-time contract | Location: New Zealand

NZQA is inviting applications from individuals for NCEA and NZ Scholarship Panel Leaders.

Panel Leaders will manage a team of markers to ensure consistency with national standards. In most cases, the role is the assessment of a specific NCEA achievement standard or New Zealand Scholarship performance standard. In some cases, a panel leader may be responsible for a panel marking the assessment of more than one standard.

In 2021 NZQA proposes to scan all NCEA examination papers so candidate responses will be marked online.

Panel Leaders will be responsible for:

  • training their panel for the requirements of the role
  • conducting benchmarking meeting(s) to finalise the assessment schedule
  • monitoring results during marking
  • marking an allocation of booklets/portfolios
  • ensuring deadlines are met by all markers
  • checking marker judgements
  • writing a report for NZQA
  • marking candidate work sent for reconsideration
  • assisting the National Assessment Facilitator to recruit markers, where required
  • maintaining confidentiality.

Appointees will be contracted to NZQA for one year. A one-day training session will be a requirement of new panel leaders. Teacher release days will be provided to enable teachers to participate.
