NCEA and Scholarship Independent Checkers
Type: Part-time contract | Location: New Zealand
NZQA is inviting applications for the role of NCEA and Scholarship Independent Checker for the 2022 examinations.
The Independent Checker acts as a fresh pair of eyes and completes the questions in an examination as a very able candidate, and provides feedback to NZQA.
Independent Checkers are required for the following subjects:
- Social Studies (Levels 1, 2 and 3)
- Mathematics (Level 2)
- Health (Levels 2 and 3)
- Psychology (Level 1, 3 and L1 RAS)
- Mandarin (Level 1, RAS)
The Independent Checker will maintain the highest levels of security and confidentiality when liaising with allocated Assessment Team members.
Professional and personal qualities
The Independent Checker will demonstrate:
- extensive subject knowledge and familiarity with the New Zealand Curriculum
- an understanding of the principles of standards-based assessment
- experience in developing high quality assessment material for a standards-based environment
- experience in moderating and critiquing assessment material in a standard-based environment
- knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of the partners of the Treaty of Waitangi in an educational assessment setting, skills and knowledge in Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori are desirable
- the ability to establish constructive working relationships with other professionals
- clear and effective communication
- the ability to work to stringent deadlines
- the ability to implement and maintain appropriate administrative and communication systems.
