Part A: Commentary

Candidates who achieve higher grades are able to interpret the meaning of the text as a whole and support their response with correct evidence and justification from the text.

To reach Excellence, candidates must draw any conclusions or inferences, i.e. meanings not obviously stated in the text. 

Part B: Report on standards

91558:  Demonstrate understanding of a variety of extended spoken Korean texts

Candidates who were awarded Achievement commonly:

  • understood the gist of the texts
  • provided some correct information
  • demonstrated basic understanding of the texts
  • provided some details, but omitted others.

Candidates whose work was assessed as Not Achieved:

  • did not demonstrate any general meaning of the text
  • provided incorrect details of the text
  • could not support their answers with correct information.

Candidates who were awarded Achievement with Merit commonly:

  • demonstrated a clear understanding of the passages or texts
  • attempted all questions, but at times lacked justification or analysis
  • supported their answers with relevant details. 

Candidates who were awarded Achievement with Excellence commonly:

  • showed understanding of most of the implied meanings and nuances in the texts
  • communicated full answers supported with relevant details and justifications
  • showed insightful conclusions from the information provided.

  • No papers were assessed as Not Achieved for this standard.

Candidates who were awarded Achievement with Merit commonly:

  • demonstrated a clear understanding of the passages or texts
  • attempted all questions, but at times lacked justification or analysis
  • supported their answers with relevant details.

Candidates who were awarded Achievement with Excellence commonly:

  • showed understanding of most of the implied meanings and nuances in the texts
  • communicated full answers supported with relevant details and justifications
  • showed insightful conclusions from the information provided.
