Information relating to all achievement standards

Word equations provide evidence towards Achievement and Achievement with Merit.

Molecular and ionic equations provide evidence towards Achievement with Merit and Achievement with Excellence. All chemical equations must be balanced.

Candidates should be familiar with relevant practical work.

Equipment

Calculators are permitted.

Resources supplied

A resource booklet will be provided. It will contain:

  • an activity series
  • a table of colours of selected ions and solids
  • solubility rules
  • a table of ions
  • a periodic table of the elements that shows the symbol and atomic number of each element.
