Visual Arts Moving Images Evidence Intentions

In 2019, there will be only two alternatives for Visual Arts submission of Moving Image (MI) portfolios:

  • Google Drive (drag and drop)
  • DVDs (one per portfolio) sent by courier.

Schools will be able to upload MI portfolios as digital files to NZQA. These files will be provided to verifiers/markers for assessment. NZQA will closely monitor the process to ensure that there is no risk to candidates’ submissions. Marking of moving image submissions will have the same assessment process and quality control as candidate work submitted on DVDs. In the very unlikely event that there are any issues with online submission, your school will be able to revert to the DVD submission process.

If you wish submit either using Google Drive or DVDs you will need to:

  1. Notify your Principal’s Nominee
  2. Email of your intention to submit MI portfolios, by 16 August 2019.

The Visual Arts Secondary Examinations Liaison Officer will then contact you with detailed submission instructions.

What else do I need to know for submissions made using Google Drive?

  • You can choose to make some MI submissions (part of the class) using Google Drive for a standard while submitting the remainder on DVDs.
  • Each school has one account, the access to the school account is managed by the school.
  • Files for submission must be in a recognised format that is playable over multiple platforms.
  • Each file must contain only one submission.
  • The file name must be structured by the following convention:
      - four-digit school code
      - standard number
      - national student number
      (For example, 0020-90916-111222333).
  • Level 1 submission completed by 5.00 pm Wednesday 23 October 2019.
  • Level 2 submission completed by 5.00 pm Wednesday 30 October 2019.
  • Level 3 submission completed by 5.00 pm Thursday 7 November 2019.

You can choose not to submit using Google Drive. The current submission process involving DVDs being couriered will continue.

The Assessment Specifications for 2019 govern this submission process with the details added above.

What if we change our mind?

You can decide to submit by DVDs at any point up to the final submission date.
