Rollover and Revision of Teaching unit standards

The NZQA National Qualification Services (NQS) has consulted on its decision to exit the unit standards listed above, which were registered in August 1997, on the basis of usage. However, at the time the application for deregistration was made a significant newly identified need for the standards emerged, and the decision has been made to extend the period of registration.
The reason for the rollover is that the unit standards have not been used sufficiently to warrant a review at this stage. However, a minor revision has been made to unit standard 8743 to clarify evidence requirements, other changes include updating curricula.
The review of these unit standards is planned to take place during 2006.

Reason for the revision
· NZQA received a request from the Ministry of Education to clarify the evidence requirements for unit standard 8743.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· Special Note 2 of unit standard 8743 has been amended to clarify the evidence requirements.
· Curriculum and other references have been updated.
· Change of titles for unit standards 8750 and 8751.
· Credits for unit standards 8750, 8751, 12361 and 12362 have been increased from 10 to 20 to reflect changes from syllabi to curricula.
· Clarification of requirements for 1.3 of unit standards 8748, 8750, 8751, 12361 and 12362.
