The Printing & Allied Industries Training Council has completed the review of the qualifications listed above that were registered in October 1999.

Outline of review process
The above qualifications were reviewed following an extensive review of industry requirements for the Reel-fed sector, which included a full review of unit standards and the delivery and assessment criteria for these. It was agreed that the level 3 qualification should be amended to take into account the changes to unit standards but that the level 4 qualification still met the industry requirements and would remain unchanged.
Main changes resulting from the review
The review process has resulted in the following changes to the qualifications.

Changes to structure and content
· Unit standard 2281 has been added to the core compulsory section
· Unit standards 16510 and 16511 have been replaced by new unit standard 20667
· Titles of unit standards 2258 and 2259 have been changed
· Credit total has increased from 113-117 to 116-120.
This qualification contains a standard that replaced earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard.

There are no changes required to this qualification. The review process however has effected a new version number.

All new trainees will be enrolled in training programmes leading to version 3 of the qualification. People currently enrolled in training programmes leading to an earlier version may either complete that version, or transfer to version 3 under the guidance of the Printing & Allied Industries Training Council.
The last date for completing the requirements of versions 1 and 2 of this qualification is December 2007.

All new trainees will be enrolled in training programmes leading to version 4 of the qualification. People currently enrolled in training programmes leading to an earlier version may either complete that version, or transfer to version 4 under the guidance of the Printing & Allied Industries Training Council.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates are disadvantaged by the transition arrangements detailed above, for either qualification.
