Revision of Dairy Manufacturing qualifications
National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Workplace Safety) (Level 3) [Ref: 0740]
National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Storage and Supply Chain) (Level 3) with an optional strand in Product Safety [Ref: 0747]
National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Environmental Systems) (Level 3) [Ref: 1062]
The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation (NZITO) has completed the revision of the qualifications listed above that were registered in December 2003 and January 2004.
Date new versions published August 2004
These qualifications required maintenance following the Fire and Rescue Services Industry Training Organisation's (FRSITO) review of unit standards in the Fire and Rescue Services – Generic Fire Fighting and Workplace Fire and Emergency Response domains. Changes that FRSITO made to the unit standards impacted on the above NZITO qualifications. This maintenance process presented the NZITO with the opportunity to revise the qualifications to ensure their continued fitness for purpose.
The level of standard 3271 decreased from 3 to 2 at review, this resulted in it no longer counting towards the minimum 40 credits at level 3 or above requirements for both the National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Workplace Safety) (Level 3) and the National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Environmental Systems) (Level 3).
The maintenance exercise has been complicated as there was no one-to-one replacement relationship for the expiring standard 3268 (level 2, credit 2). It along with 10612 (level 4, credit 6) and 10620 (level 3, credit 4) were replaced by standards 20386 (level 3, credit 3) and 20387 (level 4, credit 5). Standard 20386 is now included in the optional list of the National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Workplace Safety) (Level 3), however, the skills covered by 20387 are not required by role holders.
Other changes relate to updating the title, level and credit for standard 3272, and credit for 4647.
Elective 2
· standard 3271 has decreased in level from 3 to 2 and no longer counts towards the qualification's minimum credit total. However, as it is required in some employment contexts, it has been moved to the Optional list. The title of unit standard 3271 has also been updated
· standard 3272 has reduced in level from 4 to 3, in credit from 4 to 3, and the title has been updated
· the domains Non Specialist Security Functions and Security Staff Services have been added
Optional list
· expiring standard 3268 (level 2, credit 2) has been substituted with standard 20386 (level 3, credit 3)
· credit for 4647 has reduced from 2 to 1
· level 2 unit standards 6534, 17233 and 20596 from the domains Non specialist Security Functions and Security Staff Services have been added
Changes to structure and content
· the level of standard 3271 in the Elective has decreased from 3 to 2
· unit standard 18405 was removed from the optional Product Safety strand as it already included in the compulsory section
Changes to structure and content
· standard 3271 has been removed from Elective 2 as it no longer meets the level requirement
· the domain Workplace Fire and Emergency Response has been added to Elective 2
