Review of Printing qualifications

 

National Certificate in Printing (Printing - Sheet-fed: Offset) (Level 3) [Ref: 0043]

National Certificate in Printing (Printing - Sheet-fed: Offset) (Level 4) [Ref: 0041]

National Certificate in Printing (Printing - Sheet-fed: Small Offset) (Level 3) [Ref: 0042]

 

The Printing & Allied Industries Training Council has completed the review of the qualifications listed above that were registered in October 1999.

Outline of review process

 

The above qualifications were reviewed following a review of unit standards 339, 340, 341 and 2281 from the Printing Production domain and also as a result of a full review of the Printing - Sheet-fed unit standards.

 

The changes made do not significantly alter the outcomes for achieving these qualifications.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

The review process has resulted in the following changes to the qualifications.

 

National Certificate in Printing (Printing - Sheet-fed: Offset) Level 3 [Ref: 0043]

 

Changes to structure and content

·          Unit standards 352 and 16508 were replaced with 20424.

·          Title of unit standard 355 changed and credit value increased.

·          New unit standard 20058 was added.

·          Credit total was increased from 111 to 117.

 

This qualification contains a standard that replaced earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard.

National Certificate in Printing (Printing - Sheet-fed: Small Offset) Level 3 [Ref: 0042]

 

Changes to structure and content

·          Unit standards 352 and 16508 were replaced with 20424.

·          Title of unit standard 355 changed and credit value increased.

·          New unit standard 20058 was added.

·          Credit total was increased from 91 to 97.

 

This qualification contains a standard that replaces earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard.

National Certificate in Printing (Printing - Sheet-fed: Offset) Level 4 [Ref: 0041]

 

Changes to structure and content

·          Unit standard 339 was replaced with unit 20057.

·          Credit total was increased from 62 to 70.

 

This qualification contains a standard that replaces an earlier standard.  For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard.

Transition

People currently working towards an earlier version of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification.  Last date for award of those versions is not applicable.  All training programmes from February 2004 will lead to version 4.
