Revision of Printing qualification
National Certificate in Printing (Production Support) (Level 2) with strands in Carton Cut and Crease, Carton Forme Making, Finishing (Carton), Sheet-fed Offset, Reel-fed Printing, Screen Printing, and Formed Shapes (Letterpress/Dry Offset) [Ref: 0593]
The Printing & Allied Industries Training Council has revised the qualification listed above that was registered in June 2002.

Reason for the revision
This revision was undertaken to take account of changes made as a result of the review of some of the Printing Production core unit standards and of the Printing - Sheet-fed unit standards
This qualification will continue to be revised as each of the areas contained in the strands are reviewed and updated.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Changes to structure and content
· Unit standard 16508 was replaced with 20424.
· Credit total for the Sheet-fed Offset strand increased from 62 to 66.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.

Transition
People currently working towards an earlier version of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification. Last date for award of those versions is not applicable. All training programmes from February 2004 will lead to version 6.
