Reason for the rollover and revision
The reason for the rollover and revision is to maintain the currency of the unit standards and to insert the legal requirements relating to massage and the Physiotherapy Act 1949 into the special notes in unit standards that have the word massage in their titles.
Substantial changes have also been made to the referred Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP 0159) to ensure that providers of massage courses are aware of the definition of physiotherapy in the Physiotherapy Act 1949; and that it encompasses massage. Providers of massage courses are required to ensure that they do not breach the Physiotherapy Act 1949.
Main changes resulting from the rollover and revision
· The references to legislation have been updated in the special notes of all the unit standards.
· Information has been inserted into the special notes sections of unit standards that have the word massage in their titles, to ensure that providers of massage comply with the legal requirements of the Physiotherapy Act 1949, and further conditions set by the Board of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
· The moderation option on all the unit standards has been updated.
· Prerequisite information in unit standards 14756, 14965 and 14800 has been corrected.
· Zone Therapy capitalised in title for unit standard 17346.
