Revision of Engineering - Fabrication qualification

Competenz has revised the above qualification that was registered in May 2001.

The review of this qualification is planned to take place in 2006
Reason for the revision
This qualification was revised in order to extend the transition arrangements for candidates who are completing version 2. The completion and award dates for version 2 in this qualification disadvantaged candidates. Exemption tables were also omitted from version 3 of the qualification.
Main changes resulting from the revision
This qualification was issued as version 4 in order to amend the transition arrangements and to extend the last completion date for version 2. In addition, unit standards with new classifications and the qualification document format have been updated.
· People choosing to complete version 2 must now do so by December 2006.
· The last date for award of version 2 is June 2007.
· A table of exemptions has been included to allow people with replaced or more recent unit standards to complete the requirements of version 2 (see below).
The structure and purpose of the qualification is the same as version 3. There is no requirement for candidates to transition to version 4.
Exemptions for people transferring from version 2 to version 3 or 4
People seeking to transfer from version 2 to version 3 or 4 of this qualification who have credit for the following replaced standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the new unit standards as set out below.
