Review of Petrochemical Industry qualification
National Certificate in Petrochemical Industry (Level 5) with strands in Laboratory Operations, and Supervision and Quality [Ref: 0497]
The NZ Extractive Industries Training Organisation Inc has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in July 1998, and the qualification has been designated as expiring.
The unit standards required to achieve the Laboratory Operations strand of the above qualification were designated as expiring following review in 2001. This strand of the qualification is no longer required by industry. The members of the Petrochemical Industry Sector Advisory Group agreed that the technical and supervisory skills of the Supervision and Quality strand of the above qualification are already assessed in the levels 2, 3 and 4 Petrochemical Industry qualifications that were reviewed in February 2003. Industry agreed that the business management outcome of the above qualification (not assessed by the lower level Petrochemical Industry qualifications) is achievable through more generic qualifications available on the National Qualifications Framework, such as the National Certificate in First Line Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0649], and National Certificate in Quality Management [Ref: 0369].
Main changes resulting from the review
The National Certificate in Petrochemical Industry (Level 5) with strands in Laboratory Operations, and Supervision and Quality [Ref: 0497] will be expired and not replaced.
