Date new version published                                                        January 2004

Outline of review process

Subject experts and members of the Whakaruruhau Whakairo reviewed the qualification following the review of the Whakairo unit standards levels 2-4.

The review group also considered the impact of NCEA and the registration of the Te Ara Tauira Whakairo unit standards on the qualification.  The group decided to increase the flexibility of the qualification by recognising the practical skills gained at secondary school through Unit 19466, Realise whakairo.  This provides a pathway for students between secondary and tertiary education.
