Reason for the Revision
The revision was initiated by the Vessel Operations Advisory Group of SITO in response to a request from the Seafood Vessel Operations National Moderator to address minor points of concern within the unit standards.
The Advisory Group set up a revision meeting of the moderator, assessors, and industry representatives to ensure the Factory Trawler Technician unit standards and qualifications continued to meet industry requirements, and make any changes required to assist assessment and moderation.
Main changes resulting from the revision
The revision process resulted in the following changes to the unit standards.
· The wording of unit standard 17935 was changed to better reflect industry use of the terms 'conversion factor' and 'yield'.
· The Special Note of unit standard 17940 was changed to allow technicians working exclusively within the Hoki fleet to achieve the unit standard.
· Element 2 and special note 1 of unit standard 17953 were amended to allow assessment to take place ashore.
· References to legislation and industry standards have been updated.
· The prerequisite for unit standard 17951 has been removed.
