Unit standards shown in bold in the above table have also been rolled over.

NZQA National Qualifications Services has revised the unit standards listed above, which were registered in August 1998, November 2000, July and October 2002, and October 2003.

The rationale for the rollover of some of the standards is to align the date of their next review with that of the other unit standards listed above.  This review is planned to occur during 2007.  All standards now have the same 'comments by date'.

Many of standards were reviewed in 2002,so no further review of computing standards (levels 1 to 4) is planned in the near future.  However, a review of higher level standards in the domain of generic computing is planned for 2004.

The review of these unit standards is planned to take place during 2007. [ones done in 2002; when were others done? These may need different date]

Date new versions published                        July 2004

New comments by date                        Feb 2007December 2006

Expiry date of new versions of the unit standards                        December 20xx2007

Reason for the revision

The standards were revised in response to feedback received from assessors and through the moderation process, and as a consequence of work on developing assessment resource material for computing standards, levels 1 to 4.  Much of the feedback focused on difficulties in interpreting the assessment requirements for a number of the standards, especially those which included planning components.

Main changes resulting from the revision

The following changes were made.

·      Special notes covering planning were amended, or added, to unit standards that include planning components in order to clarify requirements.

·      Unit standard 2780 - a number of changes were made to clarify assessment requirements, and to make the standard more flexible in terms of the technology available in the range of possible assessment contexts.  Element 4 and the title were reworded to reflect the outcomes more accurately.

·      Unit standard 18738 - additions and clarifications made to the special notes and element 2 performance criteria to clarify the requirements for interactivity.  Other minor clarifications were also made.

·      Element 2 of unit standard 18743 was removed, as it added little to the outcome already covered by element 1.  The title was adjusted in line with this change.

·      Some evidence requirements in unit standards 2787, 2788, 2789, 2791, 5938, 5939 and 18751 were adjusted where they were unclear, unnecessary, or unduly restrictive.

·      Unit standards 5946, 5948 and 18758 - minor changes made to make them more accessible.  Titles were amended.

·      Titles of unit standards 18734, 18736, and 18743 were amended.

·      Minor wording changes were made in some standards to correct errors or improve clarity.

·      All standards now include a special note regarding the availability of a computing assessment resource on the NZQA website.
