Revision of Water Industry qualifications
National Certificate in Wastewater Treatment (Site Operator) [Ref: 0879]
National Certificate in Water Treatment (Site Operator) [Ref: 0880]
National Certificate in Water Reticulation (Service Person) (Level 3) with strands in Water, and Wastewater [Ref: 0962]
National Diploma in Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician) [Ref: 0966]
National Diploma in Drinking-Water with strands in Drinking-Water Assessment, and Water Treatment (Site Technician) [Ref: 1012]
The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualifications listed above that were registered between July 2001 and April 2003.
Date new versions published July 2004
The review of these qualifications is planned to take place in 2007-2009
Reason for the revision
The revision was carried out to update the statement regarding logos displayed on all qualification certificates, to remove reference to a qualification in the purpose of three of the qualifications, and to update or to include transition information regarding non-NQF certificates offered by Opus International Consultants, Environmental Training Centre (Wellington).
Main changes resulting from the revision
The certificates will now display the logos of the Qualifications Authority and Water Industry Training. Reference to the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has been deleted.
National Certificate in Wastewater Treatment (Site Operator) [Ref: 0879]
· Reference to the proposed National Certificate in Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician) in the 'Purpose' has been deleted
· The statement regarding transition from non-NQF certificates has been updated to reflect current industry requirements and is included under 'Special Notes'
· Title of reviewed unit standard 5228 updated and credits increased from 2 to 3
· Credit total for the qualification increased from 122 to 123.
National Certificate in Water Treatment (Site Operator) [Ref: 0880]
· Reference to the proposed National Certificate in Water Treatment (Site Technician) in the 'Purpose' has been deleted
· The statement regarding transition from non-NQF certificates has been updated to reflect current industry requirements and is included under 'Special Notes'
· Level of the qualification has been corrected from Level 3 to Level 4
· Title of reviewed unit standard 5228 updated and credits increased from 2 to 3
· Credit total for the qualification increased from 119 to 120.
National Certificate in Water Reticulation (Service Person) (Level 3) [Ref: 0962]
· Reference to the development timeframe for the proposed National Certificate in Water Reticulation (Supervisor) in the 'Purpose' has been amended.
National Diploma in Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician) [Ref: 0966]
· The statement regarding transition from non-NQF certificates has been added under 'Special Notes' as this was inadvertently omitted in the original version.
National Diploma in Drinking-Water with strands in Drinking-Water Assessment, and Water Treatment (Site Technician) [Ref: 1012]
