Summary of review and consultation process
An advisory group was formed with assessors, employers, trainers, providers, suppliers, and trainees working in the field. This group reviewed the units in detail and revised definitions and terminology to reflect worldwide changes in the pest management industry. Industry best practice guidelines were incorporated into the revised units where appropriate. There was also consultation with the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation. Comments and recommendations from all parties were incorporated throughout the process of review.
Main changes resulting from the review
The review process has resulted in the following changes to the unit standards.
· Range statements were extended.
· References to new legislation were incorporated throughout.
· Titles were changed to remove the generic nature and align them with the urban pest management industry.
· Performance criteria statements were modified to be more specific
· Greater emphasis on compliance issues to do with legislation, health and safety and good industry practice were incorporated into special notes and performance criteria.
· Unit standard 3259 increased from level 2 to level 3.
