Review of Petrochemical Industry qualifications

National Certificate in Petrochemical Industry (Gas Transmission) (Level 3) [Ref: 0978]

National Certificate in Petrochemical Industry (Gas Transmission) (Level 4) with strands in Pipeline Operation, and Instrumentation and Electrical [Ref: 0979]

The NZ Extractive Industries Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above that were registered in December 2002.

Date new versions published                        June 2004

The review of these qualifications is planned to take place in 2007

Stakeholders of the gas and petrochemical industry met through their respective Sector Advisory Groups to discuss the reclassification and review of the National Certificate in Petrochemical Industry (Gas Transmission) (Level 3) [Ref: 0978], and the National Certificate in Petrochemical Industry (Gas Transmission) (Level 4) with strands in Pipeline Operations, and Instrumentation and Electrical [Ref: 0979].  The stakeholder group included all major gas and petrochemical industry representatives, provider representatives and workplace assessors.

All stakeholders agreed that the Gas Transmission qualifications would be better suited in the Gas Industry subfield as this would allow the gas industry to manage and maintain qualifications relating to the transportation of gas up to the outlet at the gas meter.

The Standard Setting Body information has been updated to reflect the amalgamation of the Gas and Petrochemical Industry Training Organisation with the NZ Extractive Industries Training Organisation.
