Summary of review and consultation process

The review of the Psychology unit standards followed requests from the National Moderator and the New Zealand Psychology Teachers Association to increase the range of Psychology unit standards available at the general education levels, so that they could sustain the delivery of full courses at levels 1-4.

The review panel was composed of current and prospective users, the National Moderator, and tertiary representation.  Consultation and endorsement of the resulting unit standards involved a wider network.

This is the second batch of reviewed and new unit standards resulting from the work of the panel and subsequent consultation.  Level 1 and 2 unit standards were registered in January 2003 and this batch consists of level 3 and 4 unit standards.

The panel also developed qualifications in psychology for level 1 and level 2.

Main changes resulting from the review

·        11689 replaced by two new unit standards

·        Refinements to text of 11685 and 11686; investigation changed to experiment in both titles and unit standards.
