Review of Electronic Manufacturing qualifications

National Certificate in Electronic Manufacturing (Level 3) [Ref: 0434]

National Certificate in Electronic Manufacturing (Level 4) with strands in Manufacturing Technology, and Manufacturing Leadership [Ref: 0435]

The ElectroTechnology Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above that were registered in February 1998.

Date new versions published                        March 2004

These qualifications were reviewed in 2003, following five years of use by the industry.  Unit standards were reviewed simultaneously to incorporate changes arising from assessment experience, and a number of new standards were registered to better meet industry needs.  The review was carried out in conjunction with the Electronic Manufacturing Advisory Group and a group of assessors working in the industry.  Following wider consultation with manufacturing companies, the qualification changes were endorsed by the Advisory Group in August 2003.

Main changes resulting from the review

Both qualifications were altered to include a set of compulsory standards to reflect a common skill set for all employees in the production environment.  Additional standards extend the range of applicable electives, opening the qualification to employees who were previously unable to qualify.
