Review of National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Process Skills) (Level 3) with optional strands in Product Safety, and People Skills [Ref: 1043]
The NZITO has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in October 2003.
The review was initiated to provide for an additional optional strand to recognise performance improvement knowledge and skills and to remove the People Skills optional strand as candidates can undertake separate management qualifications that recognise those skills.
During the first quarter of 2004, the qualification was reviewed by the dairy industry advisory group, comprising all registered dairy companies, and was circulated to the NZ Dairy Research Institute and Massey University (Food Technology). A full review of this qualification is planned to take place in 2006.
Changes to structure and content
· Addition of an optional strand in Performance Improvement.
· Removal of the People Skills optional strand.
· New qualification title.

· Addition of Dairy Processing domain to Elective B to afford greater flexibility and to allow for the inclusion of new standards when they are registered in this domain.
· Removal of 18935 from Elective B in favour of including the Total Productive Manufacturing domain in the Performance Improvement optional strand.
People part way through version 1 of this qualification may choose to complete that version or transfer to version 2. Last date for award of version 1 is December 2006.
