At the request of the Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO), the Qualifications Authority has changed the classification of the unit standards referred to above. The domains listed in the 'existing classifications names' table have been designated as lapsed and lapsing respectively.
The rationale for the roll over of some of the standards is to align the date of their next review with that of the other standards listed above.
The review of these unit standards is planned to take place during 2008.
Date new versions published September 2004
New comments by date September 2007
Expiry date of new versions of the unit standards December 2008
Reason for the revision
The domain that contained most of the ESITO unit standards, Electricity Networks, had become too big and required splitting into more appropriate classifications. This large domain was also causing issues regarding accreditation of training providers - in particular with accreditation relating to live line work which requires training providers to have specialist plant, equipment, and expertise for training delivery and assessment.
The new domains were identified by industry focus groups and reflect both current and future categories for the electricity supply industry.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· All the unit standards have been reclassified
· Eight unit standards have had minor changes in their titles
· Entry requirements have been updated, where applicable, to reflect changes in unit standard titles
· The term 'enterprise' has been replaced by 'industry' throughout the unit standards
· Special notes have been updated for consistency of style and to reflect changes in compliance requirements
· Minor adjustments and corrections have been made to purpose statements, elements, performance criteria, and ranges.
Impact on existing provider accreditations
Appropriate extensions to provider accreditations have been negotiated between ESITO and individual providers. This is due to safety and physical equipment requirements for programme delivery within some domains.
Impact on Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP)
AMAP 0120 has been updated to reflect the reclassification changes.
Impact on existing qualifications
The following ESITO qualifications are affected by this revision and will be revised accordingly.
