·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Fibre Blending) (Level 2) [Ref: 0142]

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Semi-Worsted and Worsted) (Level 2) with strands in Worsted Carding, Gilling, Combing, Roving, Backwash Operation, Ring Spinning, and Wrap Spinning [Ref: 0143]

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Woollen Spinning) (Level 2) with strands in Ring Spinning and Mule Spinning [Ref: 0144]

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Yarn Processing) (Level 2) with strands in Ring Twisting, 2 for 1 Twisting, Hollow Spindle Twisting, Reeling, Winding, Balling and Brushing, Tape Scouring, and Autoclaving [Ref: 0145]

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Woven Fabric) (Level 2) with strands in Warping, Weaving, Mending, and Dry Finishing [Ref: 0146]

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Chemset Operation) (Level 3) [Ref: 0148]

The Apparel and Textile Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above that were registered in February and December 2001.

 

Replacement qualifications

 

National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Operations) (Level 2) [Ref: 1121]

National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Advanced Operations) (Level 3) with strands in Textile Processing and Textile Testing [Ref: 1122]

Feedback from industry stakeholders indicated that the qualifications listed above contained significant barriers to completion and a review of their content and structure was necessary.

 

Draft replacement qualifications were circulated to an industry advisory group for comment and from this feedback the new qualifications were written.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

The National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Operations) (Level 2) [Ref: 1121] and the National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Advanced Operations) (Level 3) with strands in Textile Processing and Textile Testing [Ref: 1122] replaced the following qualifications:

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Fibre Blending) (Level 2) [Ref: 0142]

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Semi-Worsted and Worsted) (Level 2) with strands in Worsted Carding, Gilling, Combing, Roving, Backwash Operation, Ring Spinning, and Wrap Spinning [Ref: 0143]

·        National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Woollen Spinning) (Level 2) with strands in Ring Spinning and Mule Spinning [Ref: 0144]

Transition

 

People currently enrolled in a programme leading to the award of a replaced textiles manufacture qualification may either complete that qualification or transfer to either of the replacement qualifications.

 

Candidates transferring from the replaced qualifications to the National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Operations) (Level 2) [Ref: 1121] and who are already credited with any version of 2897, 5876, 5877, and 5878 can use them for exemptions as follows:
