The Printing & Allied Industries Training Council has completed the review of the unit standards listed above that were registered in February 1998.

Date new versions published                        April 2005

New comments by date                        April 2008

Expiry date of new versions of the unit standards                        December 2009

Summary of review and consultation process

The unit standards were reviewed as they had passed their expiry date and had not previously undergone a review since their registration.  The unit standards have not been widely used to date, but it is expected that their usage will increase.

Representatives from some corrugated case converting companies indicated that changes were required to the unit standards to maintain industry relevance.  A meeting was convened involving PAITC and industry representatives in August 2004 to review these unit standards, and the group was asked to consider the following:

·               The currency of the unit standards and their suitability for existing and any proposed qualifications that may be required.

·               The accuracy and appropriateness of their content.

·               Level and credits correspond to performance outcomes.

·               Any gaps in skills and/or knowledge that could be captured by the development of new unit standards.

As a result of the above considerations significant changes were made to most of the unit standards and the outcomes have been clarified as required.

Main changes resulting from the review

·               Both the subfield and domain have changed.  The new and reviewed unit standards have been registered under the subfield Fibreboard Packaging and the domain Corrugated Case Converting.
