Summary of review and consultation process
A selected panel of industry experts met during 2004 to review this unit standard in theExtractive Industries Management domain. The reviewers analysed the unit standard for currency of industry practice, clarity of expression, assessability of content, eliminating restrictions to achievement, updating references, evaluating credit value and appropriateness for the certificate in which it is placed. Where major changes occurred in drafts of the unit standard these were evaluated following the meeting. Submissions from industry were taken into account during the review process and other stakeholders were contacted to review drafts. However, the full nature of those changes was not reflected in version 5 of the standard registered in January. This has now been rectified and the standard has been revised.
Main changes resulting from the review
· The credit value has increased from 20 to 25 to reflect the time spent in learning and assessment.
· Elements and performance criteria have been changed to reflect the application of legislation and regulations relevant to the management of an extractive site.
