Revision of Solid Plastering qualification
National Certificate in Solid Plastering (Level 4) with an optional strand in Specialist Mouldings and Decorative Work [Ref: 0725]
The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) has revised the qualification listed above that was registered in June 1999.
Date new versions published August 2005
The review of this qualification is planned to take place in October 2009
Reason for the revision
Industry has required that qualified people are able to demonstrate that they have an understanding of weathertightness in buildings, as a response to the current 'leaky building' issue. A unit standard relating to weatherproofing has been included in the compulsory section to address this.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Version 4 was issued following revision in order to update content in response to industry requirements. This includes the addition of one compulsory unit standard and a corresponding increase in the total credits.
Changes to structure and content
· New unit standard 21211 was added to the core compulsory section.
· An increase in total credits for the qualification from 143 to 147 and from 271 to 275 for the qualification with the optional strand.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1, 2 or 3 may choose to complete that version or transfer their credits to version 4.
The last date for award of version 3 is December 2009. The last date for award of version 1 or 2 is December 2008.
Publicity for the revised qualification is through industry advisory groups and direct contact with providers as appropriate.
It is the intention of the BCITO that no existing candidate is disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. Any person who considers they have been disadvantaged is requested to contact the BCITO.
