Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) has completed the revision of the unit standard listed above that was registered in March 2005.

 

The review of this unit standard is planned to take place during 2009.

Reason for the revision

 

The writer of the new assessment material for this unit standard noted an error in the new unit standard.  In the materials developed at the time in relation to the draft standard, the industry team included an element 4 on the concepts of force and torque.  This element was inadvertently omitted from the final draft of the unit standard and this was missed in the signing off process.

 

The revision addressed this by adding the missing element and renumbering those that followed.  As this information had been in the draft that was used to determine credit values, no change other change was required.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

The review has resulted in the following changes.

·        New element 4 added to the standard 'Demonstrate knowledge of the types of forces encountered in LVL and plywood manufacture'.

·        Subsequent elements and performance criteria renumbered.

·        Purpose statement reworded to include the new element 4.
