The Ministry of Education and the Secondary Education Group Assessment business unit of NZQA have completed a review of the achievement standards listed above that were registered in October 2003.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

This review is part of the planned cycle of review that takes place after the first year of use of the achievement standards.

·        Initial feedback and comments were collated from teachers/schools, moderators, examiners, markers, material developers, and other stakeholders.

·        This information was reviewed by a subject expert panel and recommendations were made in March 2005.

·        The recommendations were sent out for full consultation to secondary schools, tertiary institutions, and others in the education sector, in April/May 2005.

·        Feedback from this full consultation has informed the changes described below.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

AS90536, Te Reo Rangatira 3.1 Whakarongo

·        The credit value for this achievement standard has been reduced from 4 credits to 3.

·        Changes have been made to the title and outcome statement.

·        The achievement criteria have been expanded to better clarify the intent of the achievement standard.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 1 has been expanded.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 2, 3, and 4 have been deleted.

·        The Papakupu has been updated.

 

AS90537, Te Reo Rangatira 3.2 Kōrero

·        This achievement standard has been replaced by two distinct achievement standards with new titles AS90785 and AS90788, Te Reo Rangatira (3.2 and 3.7).

·        The credit values for both AS90785 and AS90788 have been reduced from 4 to 3 credits.

·        The mode of assessment has changed from external to internal for both achievement standards.

·        The outcome statements have been changed accordingly.

·        The achievement criteria have been expanded upon to better clarify the intent of the revised achievement standards.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 1 has been expanded for both achievement standards.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 2, 3, and 4 have been deleted and replaced with new Kōrero Āpiti for both achievement standards.

·        The Kōrero Āpiti of both achievement standards includes explanations of new words appearing in the expanded achievement criteria.

·        The Papakupu has been updated.

 

AS90538, Te Reo Rangatira 3.3 Pānui

·        This achievement standard has been replaced by two distinct achievement standards with new titles AS90786 and AS90789, Te Reo Rangatira (3.3 and 3.8). 

·        The credit values for both AS90786 and AS90789 have been reduced from 4 to 3 credits.

·        The mode of assessment for the new Te Reo Rangatira 3.3 is internal.

·        The mode of assessment for the new Te Reo Rangatira 3.8 is external.

·        The outcome statements have been changed accordingly.

·        The achievement criteria have been expanded upon to better clarify the intent of the revised achievement standards.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 1 has been expanded for both achievement standards.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 2, 3 and 4 have been deleted and replaced with new Kōrero Āpiti for both achievement standards.

·        The Kōrero Āpiti of both achievement standards includes explanations of new words appearing in the expanded achievement criteria.

·        The Papakupu has been updated.

 

AS90539, Te Reo Rangatira 3.4 Tuhituhi

·        This achievement standard has been replaced by two distinct achievement standards with new titles AS90787 and AS90790, Te Reo Rangatira (3.4 and 3.9).

·        The credit values for both AS90787 and AS90790 have been reduced from 4 to 3 credits.

·        The mode of assessment for the new 3.4 is internal.

·        The mode of assessment for the new 3.9 is external.

·        The outcome statements have been changed accordingly.

·        The achievement criteria have been expanded upon to better clarify the intent of the revised achievement standards.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 1 has been expanded for both achievement standards.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 2, 3, and 4 have been deleted and replaced with new Kōrero Āpiti for both achievement standards.

·        The Kōrero Āpiti of both achievement standards includes explanations of new words appearing in the expanded criteria.

·        The Papakupu has been updated.

 

AS90540, Te Reo Rangatira 3.5 Mātakitaki

·        This achievement standard has been designated as expiring.

 

AS90541, Te Reo Rangatira 3.6 Whakaatu

·        This achievement standard has been replaced by a new achievement standard AS90791, Te Reo Rangatira 3.10.

·        The credit valued has been reduced from 4 to 3 credits.

·        Changes have been made to the title and outcome statement.

·        The achievement criteria have been expanded upon to better clarify the intent of the achievement standard.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 1 has been expanded.

·        Current Kōrero Āpiti 2, 3, and 4 have been deleted and replaced with new Kōrero Āpiti.  Kōrero Āpiti 5 has been deleted.

·        The Kōrero Āpiti includes explanations of new words appearing in the expanded criteria.

·        The Papakupu has been updated.

 

Externally assessed achievement standards categorised as category C – 90537, 90538, and 90539 expire at the end of December 2005.

 

Internally assessed achievement standards categorised as category C – 90541 – or D – 90540 – expire at the end of December 2006.

 

Impact on Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP)

 

AMAP 0226 has been updated to reflect the changes made to the achievement standards.
