The Retail Meat Industry Training Organisation (RMITO) has reviewed the qualification listed above that was registered in June 2003.

Reason for the review
The RMITO Advisory Group, which is made up of industry representatives involved in the retail meat trade, reviewed this qualification in June 2005. Based on industry's need for clear training and qualification pathways, it was recommended that the optional Forecasting, Purchasing and Production strand of the National Certificate in Meat Retailing (Proficient) [Ref: 0900] be removed as a strand, and in turn be offered as a separate qualification: National Certificate in Meat Retailing (Forecasting, Purchasing and Production) [Ref: 1213].

Changes to structure and content
· Removed the optional Forecasting, Purchasing and Production strand.
· Unit standard 17024 increased in credit value from 1 to 2, creating a change in overall credit value for the qualification from 121-179 to 122-180 depending on optional strand.
Transition
People previously enrolled on a programme leading to the optional strand in Forecasting, Purchasing and Production can either complete that programme or transfer to the National Certificate in Meat Retailing (Forecasting, Purchasing and Production) [Ref: 1213]. The last date for award of the replaced strand is December 2007.
People enrolled on a programme leading to a previous version of this qualification may either complete that version or transfer to version 3. The last date for award of the previous versions is December 2007.
