The Printing & Allied Industries Training Council (PAITC) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above that were registered in August 1999.

Summary of review and consultation process

The review of these unit standards was undertaken as part of a full review of the PAITC screen-printing training programmes. A cross section of companies involved in screen printing production were involved and included those who undertake flat sheet, formed shapes and fabric printing. Some companies were involved in training and some were not.

Generally, the unit standards were found to be relevant and appropriate to industry needs, and required little change, however the outcomes have been clarified as required.

Main changes resulting from the review

� Unit standards 5127 and 5128 were replaced by new unit standard 21328.

� The titles of unit standards 5144 and 16775 have changed.

� Special Notes have changed in all unit standards and PAITC's colour vision requirement has been added to unit standards 5138, 5140 and 5142.

� Changes have been made to elements, performance criteria and range statements in most unit standards.

Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2006.

Any candidate entering training until 28 February 2005 will complete assessment against unit standards 5127 and 5128 unless otherwise advised by PAITC.

Any candidate entering training from 1 March 2005 must undertake and complete assessment against replacement unit standard 21328.

There is only one provider other than PAITC and they have been advised of the changes being made to the unit standards.
