Summary of review and consultation process
NZHITO, in conjunction with the fruit production advisory group, providers and other stakeholders, have reviewed the unit standards listed above in the fruit production domain. The reviews considered the currency of the unit standards and their suitability for existing and proposed qualifications, and the accuracy and appropriateness of their content to their respective industries. Comments and recommendations from all parties were incorporated throughout the process of review and consultation.
Unit standards 806, 807, 808, 809, 811, and 1784 are currently under review as part of development of new standards for the packhouse sector of the horticulture industry.
Unit standards 825 and 828 will be reviewed as part of a pest, disease and weed control review in 2005.
Unit standards 775 and 831 are planned for review as part of development of new standards for the kiwifruit sector of the industry.
Main changes resulting from the review
The review process resulted in the following changes to the unit standards:
· Development of eight new fruit production unit standards.
The review of fourteen fruit production unit standards included:
· Updating special notes to include relevant legislation and licensing requirements.
· Revising elements, performance criteria and range statements to ensure they were technically correct and up to date.
· Reassessing credit values to more accurately reflect the time taken for delivery, learning, and assessment.
Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2007.
