Summary of review and consultation process
A meeting of the key stakeholders, providers and assessors in the leather manufacturing industry identified that several key tasks completed in the hide processing sector were not covered by currently registered unit standards and that some standards were not achievable due to the narrow division of labour. To meet this industry need, new unit standards have been developed.
It is the intention of the New Zealand Industry Training Organisation and industry to review the rest of the Hide Processing domain by the end of 2005.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 8018 and 8019 have been replaced by two role-specific unit standards.
· Five new unit standards have been developed.
Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2006.
