Summary of review and consultation process

The review of the unit standards resulted from a meeting on 19 February 2004 of the industry experts convened to review the furniture qualifications.  While reviewing the qualifications the industry experts looked at each unit standard to determine if it was still fit for purpose.  This process resulted in changes to levels and credits of some unit standards.  The unit standards have also been brought up to date in terms of the NZQA technical criteria, which has resulted in greater consistency throughout all the unit standards.

Main changes resulting from the review

·        Title of unit standards 14351, 14362, 14363, 14364, 14987, and 14994 have been changed;

·        Credits in unit standards 2192, 14349, 14361, 14362, 14363, 14364, 14365, 14987, and 16238 have been changed;

·        Level of unit standard 14994 decreased from four to three;

·        Legislation and special notes updated in all the unit standards;

·        Elements have been refined in all the unit standards;

·        Performance criteria of all unit standards have been adjusted to clarify the evidence requirements.
