Summary of review and consultation process

A unit standard review was undertaken on the five specialist RDA unit standards following National Training Team Meetings held on 28, 29 and 30 November 2003, 31July-1 August 2004 and April 2005.  The RDA organisation reviewed the RDA qualification to ensure that it aligned with their current needs and direction.  Some amendments were identified within the specialist RDA unit standards and these have been addressed prior to the qualification review being undertaken.

Main changes resulting from the review

·        Level and credits amended to reflect the complexity, responsibility and time required to demonstrate the relevant skills and knowledge.

·        Minor amendments to some titles to better reflect the content.

·        Addition of elements and performance criteria to reflect industry practices.

·        Addition of a special note stating ‘Candidates must not contravene the Code of Recommendations and Minimum Standards for the Welfare of Horses’.

·        Amendments of special notes in order to clearly specify unit standard requirements, and provide definitions and consistency.
