Maintenance and Revision of Hairdressing qualification

 

National Certificate in Hairdressing (Management) (Level 5) with strands in Assessment of Hairdressing, Tutoring in Hairdressing, and Salon Management [Ref: 0646]

 

The New Zealand Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation Inc has maintained and revised the qualification listed above to take account of the reviews of Hairdressing and other unit standards contained in this qualification.  While some consultation was conducted in 2002 regarding this qualification the Qualifications Advisory Committee is in the process of evaluating all qualifications and intends to further review this qualification as part of this process by 31 December 2008.  The qualification listed above was registered in July 1999.

Reasons for the maintenance and revision

 

Version 2 was issued following the review of the hairdressing unit standards contained within this qualification.  This review encompassed the expiry of unit standard 4099, the inclusion of unit standard 13468 into the core compulsory, and the inclusion of unit standard 11552 in the Hairdressing strand.

 

Changes to structure and content

·          The level for unit standard 13464 has increased from 3 to 4.

·          Credit value of unit standard 13468 has decreased from 10 to 5, the level increased from 4 to 5, and has been included in the core compulsory.

·          Titles of unit standards 6400, 6402, 4098 and 1988 updated.

·          Unit standard 11280 has been removed from the Assessment of Hairdressing Strand compulsory, as it was no longer relevant.

·          Unit standard 4099 has been removed as it has expired.

·          Unit standards 18203 and 11098 have been added as compulsory requirements for Assessment of Hairdressing Strand.

·          An elective has been included in the Assessment of Hairdressing Strand to incorporate domains of Interpersonal Communications and Assessment of Learning.

·          Credit value of unit standard 4098 has increased from 4 to 5.

·          Unit standard 11552 has been added to the Tutoring in Hairdressing Strand compulsory.

·          Business and Financial Services field name has been updated to Business.

 

Transition

 

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of this qualification may either complete that version or transfer to version 2.  The last day for award of version 1 is 31 December 2008.

 

This qualification contains classifications that replace earlier classifications.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for standards in the lapsed classification may continue to use those credits to meet the qualification requirements.
