Review of Dairy Manufacturing qualification

 

National Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing (Storage and Supply Chain) (Level 3) with an optional strand in Product Safety [Ref: 0747]

 

The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in January 2004.

The review of this qualification was prompted by feedback from both providers and workplace assessors.  The current version of the qualification does not reflect the changing supply chain operations in the diary sector.  All the dairy companies in the sector were consulted during the review and agreed with the changes. These companies included Fonterra, Dairy Foods, Tatua, Westland, and the diary industry unions.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

This review removed unit standards that are no longer considered relevant to the outcome of this qualification, and added in unit standards that meet current workplace practice.

 

Changes to structure and content

·          Deletion of unit standards 62, 64, 763, 1277, 1279, 4818, 4823, 11967, 11984, 17459, 18405, 19523, and 19580 from the compulsory section

·          Addition of unit standards 19986, 19988, 19989, 19993, 20015, 20017, 20018, 20019, and 20170 to the compulsory section

·          Deletion of unit standards 3271, 4098, 6400, 6401, 6402, 10851, 10852, 16306, 16307, 16718, 18496, and 19336 and Occupational Health and Safety Practice domain from the elective sections

·          Addition of domain electives Dairy Quality and Process Improvement and Dairy Supply Chain to the elective sections

·          Deletion of unit standard 15274 from the optional Product Safety strand

·          The requirement of the optional Product Safety strand decreased from 20 to 18 credits

·          Listed unit standards from the domain of Dairy Product Safety and Risk Management removed and the whole domain inserted in the optional Product Safety strand.

 

Transition

 

People part way through earlier versions of this qualification may choose to complete that version or transfer to version 7.
