Expiry date of new versions of the unit standards December 2007 (unchanged)
Reason for the revision
The Biosecurity Advisory Group completed a review of these three unit standards following moderation of the assessment materials developed. The assessors felt that the level of evidence required in the assessment documents was higher than the level 3 on two of the standards. After discussion it was agreed that the level of evidence in the assessment materials defined the standard the industry required, and a request to increase the level on units 16820 and 16821 was agreed to. A minor modification to element 1 of 16820, 16830 was also agreed.
The Biosecurity Advisory Group also agreed to the development of a new unit standard covering the operation of x-ray technology for biosecurity purposes. Following consultation with the Public Services Training Organisation, this was extended to cover the use of the technology for security inspection purposes by the New Zealand Customs Department, and the original draft unit was modified accordingly.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· Unit standards 16820 and 16821 have been raised to level 4.
· Unit standard 16820 has had an additional performance criteria added in element 1, and the ranges in element 3 have been amended.
· Unit standard 16830 has additional range items and performance criteria added in element 1.
