Competenz has decided that the unit standards listed above, which were registered in May 1995, April 1996, January 1997, and June 1998, should have their period of registration extended.

The reason for the rollover is to allow Competenz to move forward with a structured review and revision of the qualifications and unit standards in the Maritime Subfield.

The review of these unit standards is planned to take place during 2006.

Expiry date of new versions of the unit standards                        December 2007

Reason for the revision

The opportunity was taken to bring the standards up to date with changes in legislation, codes of practice, and nomenclature.

Changes include:

·               the 'Shipping and Seamans Act', and 'Marine Pollution Act' have both been replaced by the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

·               editorial amendments to special notes regarding international rules and regulations for accuracy and consistency.

The following unit standard titles have been changed to align terminology with similar unit standards.
