Review of Printing qualifications

 

National Certificate in Printing (Printing – Screen) (Level 3) with strands in Flat Sheet, Fabric (Panel) and Formed Shapes [Ref: 0665]

National Certificate in Printing (Printing – Screen) (Level 4) [Ref: 0131]

 

The Printing & Allied Industries Training Council has completed the review of the qualifications listed above that were registered in October 1999.

 

Date new versions published                        May 2005

 

The above qualifications were reviewed following an extensive review of industry requirements for the screen printing sector.  Most companies were largely satisfied with the current programmes and very little change was required to the qualifications.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

The review process has resulted in the following changes to the qualifications.

 

National Certificate in Printing (Printing – Screen) (Level 3) with strands in Flat Sheet, Fabric (Panel) and Formed Shapes [Ref: 0665]

 

Changes to structure and content

·        unit standard 5128 was removed

·        unit standard 5127 was replaced with new unit standard 21328

·        unit standard 2281 was added

·        title of unit standard 16795 changed

·        credit totals have decreased from 127-129 to 132-134

 

Transition

 

All new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to version 3 of the qualification.  People currently enrolled in programmes leading to an earlier version may either complete that version, or transfer to version 3 under the guidance of the Printing & Allied Industries Training Council.  The last date for award of previous versions is December 2007.

 

For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.

Transition

 

All new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to version 6 of the qualification.  People currently enrolled in programmes leading to an earlier version may either complete that version, or transfer to version 6 under the guidance of the Printing & Allied Industries Training Council.

 

Appeals

 

It is anticipated that no existing candidates are disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.
