Revision of Electricity Supply qualifications

 

National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Cable Jointer – Low Voltage) (Level 3) [Ref: 0869]

National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Level 2) [Ref: 0868]

 

The Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) has revised the qualifications listed above that were registered in August and September 2004.

 

Date new versions published                        May 2005

 

The review of these qualifications is planned to take place in 2008

 

Reason for the revision

 

It has been identified by industry that several unit standards have been excluded from the level 3 qualification that are required by industry.  In addition, it has been identified that unit standard 18273 is a fundamental unit standard for those working in the electricity supply industry and therefore is required to be included in the level 2 qualification.

Changes to structure and content

·          Credit requirements were increased from 69 to 88.

·          Unit standards 12296 and 17028 have been transferred into the Electricity Supply - Core Skills domain.

·          Unit standard 10543has been transferred into the Electricity Supply - Distribution Networks domain.

·          Unit standards 10545, 18026, 18027, 20059 and 20074 have been added to the qualification.

·          The classification, title and credit value of unit standard 5627 has been modified.

 

National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Level 2) [Ref: 0868]

 

Changes to structure and content

·          The credit requirements have been increased from 83 to 88.

·          Unit standard 18273 has been added to the qualification.

 

Transition

 

All existing candidates may complete the version of the qualification on which they are enrolled or transfer their existing achievements to the latest version.  It is anticipated that no existing candidates are disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.  However, candidates may appeal in the first instance to Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation, which will consider any appeal on a case by case basis.

 

Version 2 of the qualifications will cease to be offered from May 2005.  Version 1 of the qualifications will cease to be offered from December 2005.  The last date for awarding version 1 will be December 2008.  The last date for awarding version 2 will be December 2005.  Programmes leading to the award of new version will be available for implementation following registration.
